The 2nd Annual Cherohala Skyway Festival is now scheduled for 9am-5pm on Saturday, November 4, 2017. (The organizers postponed the event one week from the original date, due to inclement weather.) The foliage colors are getting vibrant now, so it should be excellent timing!
Held under a huge tent just outside the Charles Hall Museum, the Skyway Festival offers fun for the entire family. You can enjoy vendors and demos of crafts, woodwork, old time spinning, furniture, chain saw carvings, metalwork, signs, pottery, jewelry, soaps & toiletries, crochet, needlework, paintings, portraits, fall & christmas décor, a bag sale & much more. There’s also a Free Kid’s Craft Table while parents shop!
Explore the huge Tellico Plains Library Book Sale. Food options include the Library’s Bake Sale, Pork Palace’s Pork Plates w Fried Potatoes, Chili Dogs, Nachos, Frito Pies, Soft Drinks, Coffee, Hot Chocolate, & Apple Cider. Music will be provided at the tent entrance and on the main stage.
Outside the tent you’ll discover more quality vendors, Safe Archery, Smoky The Bear, Kettle Corn and Funnel Cakes, Petting Zoo, Barrel Train Rides, Bounce Houses/Slides, Corn Hole, Pioneer Demonstrations, a Blacksmith, and Corn Shelling/Grinding. At the Charles Hall Field there will also be antique tractors, lawn mowers, classic vehicles and small engines (for info on exhibiting yours call James at 423-261-924/519-6009.)
History Area at The Museum: Bring your historical pictures of before, during, and after the Cherohala Skyway construction, plus Wagon Train pictures to be scanned for all to enjoy!
During the festival, shop our Gift Shops and view the historic DVD about the beginning of Wagon Train and the eventual Cherohala Skyway, in the buildings of the Charles Hall Museum & the adjacent Visitor’s Center.
Free admission and parking. A $5 Kids’ wrist band includes all inflatables, safe archery, unlimited barrel train rides, and wagon rides.
The Charles Hall Museum is located at 229 Cherohala Skyway, at the start of Hwy 165 in Tellico Plains TN.
