July 4th falls on Tuesday this year, so Independence Day celebrations are stretched over many days, with fun beginning the weekend before.
Tellico Plains will celebrate on Saturday, July 1, 2017, with its Annual Dance on the Square and Independence Day Celebration, hosted by the Tellico Plains Kiwanis Club. This year’s event includes music, food vendors, arts and craft vendors, kids zone with a bounce house and water slide, ice cones, and Song Farmers’ music. A special celebration of the U.S. flag will be held as an opening ceremony at 5 pm when Boy Scout Troop #115 and Coker Creek Girl Scout Troop #40005 will present the official “Retiring of the Flags.” Live music by Tim Childress and The Unwound Band at 7pm from the gazebo and dancing, a fun tradition since 1958! Held from 5pm to 11pm at Town Square in Tellico Plains. Free admission. Proceeds from this Kiwanis Club fundraiser benefit projects which improve the quality of life for children in greater Tellico Plains. For more information call 423-519-3778.
